Dear students,

Geopolitical conflicts, climate change, humanitarian crises, social tensions, digital-age isolation and the uncertain trajectory of AI advancements – our world is full of challenges!
In times of uncertainty, fundamental humanistic values provide us with support and direction. I am proud that the mission statement of our "personal university" embodies precisely these values: personal relationships and meaningful dialogue are at the heart of our academic community.
Our approach to teaching, learning, research and collaboration is defined by respectful interaction, fairness, participation, transparent communication and mutual trust.
As a student, you are a vital part of our university community, built on shared values. Our goal is to provide you not only with a high-quality education but also with an environment where you can grow as an individual and develop personally. Use your time at university to expand not just your intellectual horizons but also to build bridges – across disciplines, cultures and worldviews.
My hope for this semester and beyond is that we succeed in bringing humanity into our daily university life: let us treat each other with respect and appreciation, look out for one another, and ensure that no one is overlooked or forgotten.
As the newly appointed Vice President for Human Resources and Professorships, I look forward to supporting and accompanying all members of our university on this journey with trust and dedication.
With this in mind, I wish you all a great start to a promising new semester – one filled with broadening perspectives, inspiring learning experiences, and enriching human connections.
With best regards,
Professor Franca Contratto, LL.M. (Georgetown), Vice President Human Resources and Professorships
