Johannes Matzat has been a PostDoc in Lucerne at the chair of Prof. Dr. Lüchinger and a postdoctoral fellow at Hebrew University since 2023. His research interests lie in political economy, migration, and development. In 2023, he completed his dissertation "Essays in Political Economy: Drivers of Polarization" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Axel Dreher at the University of Göttingen. During his PhD he was a member of the DFG-funded Research Training Group Globalization and Development and a Research Associate at the University of Heidelberg contributing to the DFG-funded project “Coming to America: Immigration, Political Campaigning, and Polarization”. In 2023, he visited Georgetown University and UC Davis for research stays.
