Katharina Roser ist Lehr- und Forschungsbeauftragte an der Fakultät für Gesundheitswissenschaften und Medizin der Universität Luzern. Sie studierte Mathematik an der Universität Basel. Ihr Doktorat in Epidemiologie machte sie am Schweizerischen Tropen und Public Health Institut (Swiss TPH) in Basel im Rahmen des HERMES-Projekts (Health Effects Related to Mobile phonE use in AdolescentS) von 2012 bis 2015. Von 2016 bis 2021 war sie Senior Research Fellow am Departement für Gesundheitswissenschaften und Medizin der Universität Luzern. Parallel dazu arbeitete sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin beim Zentralschweizer Krebsregister in einem Projekt zur Epidemiologie von Krebs bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen in der Zentralschweiz (2017-2018) und beim Schweizerischen Nationalfonds in einem Projekt zur Untersuchung von Neuerungen in einem der Förderprogramme für Nachwuchsforschende (2019). Sie leitet zwei Projekte: Eines zu Krebs bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen in der Schweiz und eines zu sozio-bürokratischen Schwierigkeiten nach einer Krebserkrankung im Kindesalter aus der Perspektive von Eltern, Überlebenden und Expert:innen in der Schweiz. Neben ihrer Forschungstätigkeit unterrichtet sie im Bachelor in Gesundheitswissenschaften und im Joint Medical Master UniLU-UZH und betreut Masterstudierende in Gesundheitswissenschaften.
Research
Mein allgemeines Forschungsinteresse gilt der Gesundheit, dem Wohlbefinden und dem Verhalten der Bevölkerung, insbesondere von Kindern, Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen, und dies insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit verschiedenen Arten von Belastungen wie Umweltaspekten oder Krankheiten. Zudem interessiere ich mich für die Epidemiologie dieser Auswirkungen und Belastungen. Während meiner Doktorarbeit untersuchte ich, ob die Nutzung oder die Strahlung von Mobiltelefonen und anderen drahtlosen Kommunikationsgeräten einen Einfluss auf die Gesundheit und das Verhalten von Schweizer Jugendlichen hat. Meine aktuelle Forschung konzentriert sich auf Kinder, Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene, die an Krebs erkrankt sind oder den Krebs überlebt haben, sowie auf deren Familien. Ich leite ein Projekt zu Krebs bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen in der Schweiz und ein weiteres zu sozio-bürokratischen Schwierigkeiten nach einer Krebserkrankung im Kindesalter aus der Sicht von Eltern, Überlebenden und Expert:innen in der Schweiz. Zudem bin ich an Projekten beteiligt, die sich mit Grosseltern von Überlebenden von Krebs im Kindesalter, der personenzentrierten Nachsorge für Überlebende von Krebs im Kindesalter und dem Einsatz von E-Health-Tools zur Förderung der Lebensqualität von Überlebenden von Krebs im Kindes-, Jugend- und jungen Erwachsenenalter und ihren Familien befassen.

e-QuoL: e-health tools to promote Equality in Quality of Life for childhood to young adulthood cancer patients, survivors and their families
Im Rahmen des Projekts «e-QuoL» sollen verschiedene digitale Hilfsmittel entwickelt werden, die junge Krebs-Überlebende in ihrer Lebensgestaltung und bei der Nachsorge unterstützen. Das Vorhaben wird als Gemeinschaftsprojekt von 30 Institutionen in 16 europäischen Ländern durchgeführt. 2024–2027 -
