The spring semester 2020 will most likely remain in our memories for some time to come. The semester was less than a month old, when the Federal Council decreed the lockdown. From that moment, it was no longer possible to attend classes, visit the library or participate in university sports. The university had to very quickly switch to digital teaching.

Messages from the University Management
Language courses for students
In coordination with the SOL, language courses for students will also be offered during the autumn semester 2020. The English course Speaking and writing B2/C1 will take place over lunch, French B1 and Italian for beginners A1 and the semester course German for speakers of other languages B2/C1 will take place during the regular times. Registration deadline is the 16th September 2020.
No workstations for students during the exam revision period
Until further notice, there will be no workstations available for use in the Uni/PH building’s library. For up to date information please read through the information for students on the coronavirus measures.
No Sunday opening times for students
The library’s Sunday opening times for students are cancelled for the spring semester 2020.
Survey on discrimination, sexual harassment and diversity at the University of Lucerne
The goal of this survey is to determine a possible scope for action and improvement in the way the University of Lucerne addresses and responds to sexual harassment, discrimination and diversity. Take part in our survey and help us counter discrimination and promote diversity in everyday university life. Survey | www.unilu.ch/diversity Five book vouchers from buchhaus.ch worth CHF 100 each will be raffled off among all participants. Please fill in the survey on a PC or laptop. The survey is not suitable for completion on a smartphone.
Building closed between 1st and 16th August
From Saturday, 1st to Sunday 16th August 2020, the Uni/PH-building will be closed in order to allow the annual inspection and maintenance work to be carried out. The building can only be accessed by university staff via the night entrance point.

Jobportal For some time now, a Jobportal advertising jobs, internship placements, part-time and summer jobs has been available on the Career services website.
Visit to the EPA cancelled The visit to the Federal Personnel Office (EPA), Bern, originally planned for the 29th May, has been cancelled due to the current situation and will be offered again next year. www.unilu.ch/careerservices
Application deadlines for student exchange
The University of Lucerne remains active within its networks. In these challenging times, it is more important than ever that we do not lose touch with the international community and that we maintain our strong ties with our partner universities. The exchange programme of the autumn semester 2020 will go ahead, and we look forward to receiving applications for the spring semester 2021. Update on supervised holiday weeks | students wanted
Summer holiday week, 13.-17.07.2020: The registration for the supervised summer holiday week for children of university members is now open. We cannot yet guarantee that this week will take place. Any changes will be communicated as they happen.
Autumn holiday week, 28.09.-01.10.2020: Registration will be possible from July 2020. Interested parents can register via chancengleichheitremove-this.@remove-this.unilu.ch.

HSCL: digital sport offering
The HSCL has been offering a digital sports programme since April. Sports lessons with the training supervisors are available on the YouTube channel. If the situation allows, we very much hope that we will be able to offer a small 'in person' sports programme again within the summer holiday training schedule.
Psychological Advisory Service Campus Lucerne
Since the 18th May the psychological advisory centre (PBLU) has again been offering face-to-face counselling (in compliance with the protective measures prescribed by the Federal Office for Public Health). The option of an online consultation remains. Appointments for all forms of consultation can be arranged at any time via inforemove-this.@remove-this.pblu.ch or via the contact form (www.pblu.ch).
horizonte – Chaplaincy for students
We hope that you are all healthy and have managed to get through this special time well. It seems appropriate that our new semester theme will be 'A brave new world'. Corona: How is the Swiss population doing?
How is Corona affecting health, quality of life, well-being and social life in Switzerland? A team of researchers from the universities of Lucerne and Bern is investigating this by means of an online survey (in German, French or Italian).
News from the ZHB Lucerne library
Library will gradually open
The ZHB Lucerne resumed its lending operations with restrictions on the 11th May. The focus is on services for students. The reading rooms, workstations and recreation areas will remain closed until further notice. Current information
Library services during Uni/PH building closure
During the closure of the Uni/PH building from the 1st to 16th August, library media from the Frohburgstrasse location can be ordered to other locations. The library at the Sempacherstrasse site will be open during the closure, the HSLU economics library will be open from the 10th August after its summer closure.

DynaCORE Studie: research of psych. reactions to the coronavirus
The corona pandemic represents an enormous challenge for people in many countries. A research consortium of international scientists wants to contribute to improving general health by studying the psychological mechanisms that enable us to deal with this crisis. Distribution of the Semester Info is done in either German or English. German Version
If necessary, you can change your language within UniPortal (German or English). The language you opt for will then apply to all of the bilingual communication that is sent out by the University of Lucerne.
