Swiss National Science Foundation
The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is the most important third-party funding agency for research funding in Switzerland. It promotes research in a variety of ways, as set out in its strategy and goals for the coming years: SNSF-Strategy and multi-year programmes 2021-2028
The career funding schemes by the SNSF offer to young researchers the following opportunities:

The SNSF supports humanities and social sciences projects on two levels:
Via project funding, basic research (department I)
Via programmes: NFP, NFS, international programmes, Sinergia, Spirit, Spark, a.o.
The SNSF supports scientific exchanges (colloquia, symposia, workshops etc.).
The SNSF also supports research residencies (1-6 months, outgoings/incomings).
Applications are always possible and must be submitted four months before the date of the event. The support amounts are between CHF 2'500 and max. CHF 25'000.
The SNSF strives to promote international integration for Swiss researchers. To this end, it offers a range of support tools.
The SNSF finances publications, which have to appear digitally and must be accessible free of charge 12 months after the publication at latest (see OA-Policy by the SNSF).
At the moment, the SNSF is running a pilot project in collaboration with the plattform ChronosHub to facilitate the OA-procedure for the researchers and to pay the OA-charges directly for the OA-only journals and to facilitate the administration.
