Dear MOL-Members,
Between winter and spring, everything hangs in the balance. On the one hand, it's still cold, dark mornings and a mountain of to-dos. On the other hand: longer days, the first rays of sunshine and perhaps even a hint of zest for action. The perfect time to try something new - for example, a position as a university committee representative! Elections are coming up in May and some exciting positions are still looking for motivated people. Perhaps you would like to have a say in decisions? Then you'll find more information below.
There are other changes too: New recycling stickers help with waste separation and more sustainable products are being tested in the snack vending machines. And because the future doesn't just happen at university: On 27 March, there will be a crash course on retirement planning. In this newsletter, we also draw attention to the services offered by profawo - pro family and work.
Any questions? Or just fancy a chat and socialising? Then come to Baloo on 19 March from 5 p.m. The first drink is on us!
Kind regards, Your MOL Board

NEWS FROM OUR REPRESENTATIVES AND WORKING GROUPS
Crashcourse "Pension planning" (in German)
Studying and working requires a lot of commitment - but what about retirement provision? It's never too early to start thinking about your financial future. Women are twice as likely to be affected by poverty in old age as men. Even at a young age, small steps can prevent large gaps in pension provision. On Thursday, 27 March 2025, a crash course will be held to provide practical tips on how to make active and forward-looking provision for old age. More info (in German) | Pia Ammann, Head of the Office of Equal Opportunity.
Services profawo - pro family and work
Around a quarter of doctoral students are parents: If you are also a parent, you have access to numerous services relating to the care of children and relatives. This also includes access to special rates at over 20 Kids & Co daycare centres in Switzerland. More info (in German) | subscribe to the newsletter.
Waste separation’ awareness campaign
This spring semester, new stickers are adorning the PET and waste bins in the Uni/PH building. These are part of an awareness-raising campaign by the VENALU association and the University of Lucerne, which aims to encourage university members to separate waste correctly. More Information
More sustainable snack vending machines
The sustainability strategy aims to ensure sustainable catering in the building - including in the drinks and snack vending machines. A test phase is therefore taking place in FS25, during which new, more sustainable products will be offered. The Sustainability Office is asking people to take part in a short survey on the acceptance of the offer. The survey will be available from the start of the test phase (March).
