Dear Members of the MOL
In this newsletter we report on the activities of the mid-level organisation University of Lucerne (MOL), our upcoming events and our approach to the SNSF's decision to cancel the Doc.CH program without replacement. Tomorrow, Thursday, the last MOL meeting of this year will take place – we are looking forward to meet as many of you as possible for the outlook on 2023 and/or for the Christmas aperitif afterwards!
Kind regards, your MOL-Board
Tess Bardy (GWM), Matteo Frey (TF), Aline Leimann (RF), Alexander Ort (GWM), Antonia Steigerwald (KSF)
My name is Tess. I come from France and have lived in Switzerland for eight years. My research interest finds its roots in applied economics: I currently do my Ph.D. in Health Economics at the Department of Health Sciences and Medicine, working on the Swiss health insurance system, residents’ knowledge, and their challenges.
I recently joined the MOL board, and with my colleagues and you, I am eager to help shape and improve our academic life and environment. I look forward to meeting you should you have any concerns you would like to address or just want to grab a coffee!
On 27 October 2022, the General Assembly of the MOL has elected their new representatives:
New Board Member: | Tess Bardy (GWM) | Representative in the Research Commission (FoKo): | Sarah Mantwill (GWM) | Representative in the Sustainability Commission: | Viviane Dettling (RF) | Representative in the Echogroup Mensa: | Lea Keller (RF) |
We warmly welcome the new MOL representatives and look forward to working together!
All representatives of the MOL can be found on our website in the section "Über uns"
Review: General Assembly on 27 October 2022
End of October we have welcomed around 30 members on site and via Zoom to the annual General Assembly of the MOL. Matteo Frey presented the current activities and future projects of the MOL and Lucien Käslin, responsible for the finances, explained the financial report and the budget 2023. After the elections (see results above), the participants of the meeting had the opportunity for an informal exchange at an apéro riche.

Protest against discontinuation of the SNSF instrument "Doc.CH"
The SNSF has announced that it will cancel the "Doc.CH" instrument without replacement as of 2025. This decision has far-reaching consequences for research operations in the humanities and social sciences. The MOL has joined the numerous other organisations and written a letter of protest to the SNSF and the cantons.

MOL Meetings
Wrapping-up 2022: four new 'fields of action' and outlook 2023.
On 22 Decembre we meet for the fourth and last MOL meeting of this semester. We will look back on 2022 and share some impressions of the MOL board retreat and the four newly defined ‘fields of action’. Even though nothing entirely new they define our future agenda and the four MOL-meetings in 2023. We are looking forward to complete this year with as many of you as possible. And even if you could not make it to the meeting itself, feel free to join the christmassy apéro afterwards!
