Dear members of the MOL
In today's Infomail, we are pleased to report that the Petition Academia has taken a big step forward.
In addition, Philippe Stawiski, our representative in the Echo Group Mensa and ad-hoc Commission for Sustainability, brings great news from the Mensa. On the newly created "News" ("Aktuelles") section on the MOL website (english version in progress), we will in future share with you news and information concerning the mid-level staff.
With best wishes, Your MOL Board
Matteo Frey (TF), Aline Leimann (RF), Alexander Ort (GWM), Monika Plozza (RF), Antonia Steigerwald (KSF)
Dear members of the MOL
My name is Antonia Steigerwald and I have been representing the KSF on the mid-level organization Lucerne (MOL) Board since April 2022. Together with the other board members, I help to keep the MOL activ and close to the needs of the mid-level staff. Questions, comments and concerns are welcome and I look forward to exchanging ideas with you.
In addition to my work on the MOL Board, I represent the mid-level staff in the Quality Assurance Commission.
A few words about me: I am an SNSF research fellow at the Department of Sociology and am doing my doctorate on the project "Digital payments: Making payments personal and social" with Sophie Mützel. Before that, I was a research assistant at the Lucerne School of Business and Economics for three years, where I worked on topics related to digital communication and marketing management in a four-fold performance mandate.
See you soon, Antonia
The Science, Education and Culture Committee of the National Council (WBK-NR/CSEC-CN) accepted the concerns of our petition. For the first time, a political body recognizes the urgency of the need for a culture change at higher education institutions in Switzerland. Accordingly, it proposes to the National Council to instruct the Federal Council (Bundesrat / Conseil fédéral) as follows:
- The Federal Council needs to conduct a detailed investigation and issue a report on questions of precariousness and equal opportunity for the mid-level staff at Swiss higher education institutions.
- The Federal Council needs to examine whether a significant number of stable positions for postdoctoral researchers can be created.
A first important step has been taken, but we still have a long way to go.
