Dear students,
It will soon be the end of the year once again. It feels like this year has progressed at different speeds for each of us, even though everyone was kept on their toes by Corona. Some flitted from deadline to deadline, others patiently plodded through literature, dates and texts, whilst others changed tempos and switched between speeding up and slowing down. Since time immemorial, the days of the year have been the same length, but their psychological experience varies, and time always seems to be short.

Sunday opening times for students during exam preparation
The library will have special opening times: 19th December 2021 and 9th/16th January 2022 – from 9am to 5pm. University of Lucerne and PH students can gain access via the night entrance, and with a valid CampusCard. More Info (pdf)
Workstations for students during the exam revision period
Looking for a quiet space to read and study? In December, all open lecture halls and seminar rooms can be used for learning or participating in digital courses (exceptions: lecture halls 1, 9 and 10). From 3rd to 27th January, lecture halls 11, 12, 13 and 14 are reserved for students to study. The Tutorial room is available for group work. Certificates and masks are compulsory.
Save the Date: Summer holiday week 2022
From 18th to 22nd July 2022, the Office for Equal Opportunities is organising a supervised holiday week for kindergarten and school children of students and staff of the University of Lucerne. Information on the programme and registration will follow in mid-March via Equal Opportunities Events. Interested parents can contact Pia Ammann by e-mail and will be notified as soon as there is news.
New broschure "Uni and Family"
The compatibility of family and studies is an important topic for the University of Lucerne. With the new brochure "Uni and Family", we want to support you during pregnancy and in your life with a child. Rainbow families also receive information, as do couples who adopt a child. In addition, there are tips on how to achieve compatibility in everyday study life. The Equal Opportunities Office will be happy to provide you with information and advice.

Extended opening hours at the Sempacherstrasse site
From 3 January 2022, the opening hours at Sempacherstrasse will be extended in a pilot phase: Monday to Sunday 8am-8pm. After half a year, it will be decided whether the extended opening hours will be maintained.

Mercator Kolleg: Call for applications for scholarships 2022/23
Every year, the Mercator Kolleg for International Affairs awards five scholarships to university graduates from all disciplines to prepare them for leadership roles in international organisations and NGOs. The monthly stipend for scholars from Switzerland is CHF 3,500. The application deadline is 31.01.2022. More information: Swiss Study Foundation

Distribution of the Semester Info is done in either German or English. German version
If necessary, you can change your language within UniPortal (German or English). The language you opt for will then apply to all of the bilingual communication that is sent out by the University of Lucerne.
