Messages from University Management
German course for non-natives: autumn semester
The course is particularly suitable for students from Italian- or French-speaking Switzerland, however other foreign students and exchange students are also very welcome to join. The course will run during the autumn semester in 6 blocks, on Wednesdays from 4:15pm to 7:30pm. Alongside the language lecturer, university students will actively participate as tutors. This will allow a more intensive classroom supervision and a good German language immersion. Furthermore, there will be student events organised to further practise your German, including film evenings with subsequent discussions, thematic city tours etc. Registration is already open. Sunday opening times for students
The library will have special Sunday opening hours on the following Sundays and public holidays (Ascension, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi): 25th /28th May and 4th /5th /11th /15th /18th June 2017 – from 9am to 5pm

Workstations for students during the exam revision period
Looking for a quiet space to read and study? During the exam period the library will offer extra work spaces. Furthermore, spaces will be reserved for students on the basement floor of the Uni/PH-building.
ZHB library Sempacherstrasse In the rooms formerly occupied by the ‘special collection’ (Sondersammlung). Entrance is gained via the foyer.
Uni/PH-building Library (1st floor): There are a total of 670 individual workstations with an electric connection available within the Uni/PH-building’s library. Basement floor: from the 6th to the 30th June the following study areas can be used by students: Hörsaal 11, Hörsaal 12, Hörsaal 13 and the Tutorium. (Wolfgang Schatz, Secretary General)
Semester Info in German or English
Distribution of the Semester Info is done in either German or English. German version
If necessary, you can change your language within UniPortal (German or English). The language you opt for will then apply to all of the bilingual communication that is sent out by the University of Lucerne.

The Semester Info provides you with official announcements and information from the Executive Board of the university at the beginning and end of each semester. The faculties will contact you directly with information about lectures and your course of study.
Building closed between 30th July and 13th August
From 30th July to 13th August 2017 the Uni/PH-building will be closed in order to allow the annual inspection and maintenance work to be carried out. The building can only be accessed by university staff via the night entrance point. (Patrik Meier, Head of Facility Management)
The Library’s summer opening times
From Monday 3rd July until and including Thursday 31st August 2017, the library will close at 6:30pm and the whole building will close at 7pm (Mon-Fri). Normal opening hours apply on Saturdays.
From 30th July to 13th August 2017 the Uni/PH-building will be closed in order to allow the annual inspection and maintenance work to be carried out. During this time no media can be viewed or taken from the library’s holdings. (Simone Barnetta, Head of User Services)
Workstations for students 31st July – 12th August
During the closure of the building, the following workstations with WLAN eduroam will be available for use and reserved for Uni Lucerne and PH Lucerne students on a first come, first served basis:
Monday to Friday PH Lucerne, Pfistergasse 20, Seminar room PF 006 on the ground floor (Mon-Fri 6.45am-7.15pm) approx. 20 workstations Monday to Saturday Library Sempacherstrasse: Reading room 2 (Lesesaal 2), (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 8am-6:30pm; Thu 8am-8pm; Sat 9.30am-4pm). approx. 28 workstations
Electronic media (magazines, e-books and research tools) are accessible via EZProxy and research. The postal dispatch service will still be active and copy orders can still be made. The Mensa takes a summer break
The Mensa will close for three weeks: from Saturday, 22nd July to Tuesday, 15th August. The vending machines and the staff recreation rooms will be serviced during these weeks.

Electronic Dispatch of the Semester Invoice

Lockers: Key return
Please return your locker key by (latest) Friday 30th June 2017 to the Infodesk. Please bring your CampusCard or a form of ID with you. Please note: your locker must be emptied completely. Returns can be made daily, Mon-Fri from 8:30am to 12:30 midday.
