María Vásquez Callo-Müller ist eine Postdoc beim Europäischen Forschungsrat finanzierten Projekt: Trade Law for the Data-Driven Economy (Handelsrecht 4.0), geleitet von Prof. Dr. Mira Burri.
María ist eine erfahrene Forscherin und Beraterin für digitale Handelsfragen. Bevor sie an die Universität Luzern kam, war sie als Doktorandin am World Trade Institute (WTI) der Universität Bern tätig. Sie war auch Gastdoktorandin am Max-Planck-Institut für Innovation und Wettbewerb in München. María ist regelmässig als Beraterin für die Policy Support Unit der Asiatisch-Pazifischen Wirtschaftskooperation (APEC) tätig und hat auch für andere Organisationen wie die Wirtschafts- und Sozialkommission der Vereinten Nationen für Asien und den Pazifik (UNESCAP) Beratungen zur digitalen Handelspolitik durchgeführt.
María hat einen LL.M. im Recht des geistigen Eigentums vom Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt des Max-Planck-Instituts für Innovation und Wettbewerb, der Universität Augsburg, der Technischen Universität München und der George Washington University Law School, Washington, D.C.) und einen Master of Advanced Studies in International Law and Economics (MILE) vom WTI. Sie machte ihren Abschluss als Rechtsanwältin an der Päpstlichen Katholischen Universität von Peru und war während ihres Grundstudiums Gaststudentin an der Schule für Internationale Beziehungen der Universität Peking.
Marías Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen an der Schnittstelle zwischen der Regulierung digitaler Technologien und dem Handel, insbesondere in den Bereichen geistige Eigentumsrechte, Data Governance und Cybersicherheit.
