Amal Shahid is an SNSF Senior researcher at the University of Lausanne, focusing on the sub-project on the Basel Mission in the Indian subcontinent during the 19th century. Her doctoral research tackled questions of famine relief, morality, and political economy in colonial India, which won the Pierre du Bois Prize for the best dissertation in International History 2023.  Her research interests are history of imperialism and colonialism, history of labour, and history of political economy.
