Book Launch: African History between Ghana and Switzerland
On Friday 8th of November Anne Beutter (Religionswissenschaft, Lucerne) und Sasu Kwame Sewordor (Urban Studies, Basel) present their recently published essay collection in Basel and online.
The essays collection documents the formative decades of African history across two countries by following the career of a British historian-cum-archivist Paul Jenkins from Ghana to Switzerand. Making German-language archivalia on Ghananian history accessible to Ghanaian researchers and fostering a broad and sustained network of scholars across continents and generations are among his legacies.
The essays take Jenkin's contribution to African History as a stepping stone to explore current themes from different converging fields of study between Ghana and Switzerland, from issues of the lasting scilences of marginalized actors to new sources for historiography, and the personal involvement of the scholarly experience in research.
Doing so, the volume brings persectives of scholars from three continents and five academic disciplines in conversation with one another.
