Prof. Dr. Alexander H. Trechsel, geboren am 6. Februar 1971 in Bern (CH), absolvierte sein BA und MA in Politikwissenschaft an der Universität Genf. 1999 erhielt er ebenfalls an der Universität Genf sein Doktorat in Politikwissenschaft (mit der höchsten Auszeichnung). Von 2005 bis 2016 war Professor Trechsel Inhaber des Schweizer Lehrstuhls für Föderalismus und Demokratie am European University Institute (EUI) in Florenz. Von 2013-2016 war er zudem Head of Department des Department for Political and Social Sciences am EUI. Zudem war er von 2012-2015 Faculty Fellow am Berkman Center for Internet and Society an der Harvard University und seit 2015 dort ein Faculty Associate. Seit dem Herbstsemester 2016 arbeitet er als ordentlicher Professor für Politikwissenschaft an der Uni Luzern.
