Compact Course Family Office & Strategic Philanthropy
The University of Lucerne, in partnership with Ashoka, the world's largest network of social entrepreneurs and changemakers, is offering a unique course in Family Office & Strategic Philanthropy. It is the first course of its kind in Switzerland, which was first held in autumn 2023. A further course is planned for autumn 2024. Participants in the compact course entitled "Family Office & Strategic Philanthropy: Theory, Best Practice, Instruments and Visions" will be provided with information on the strategic and operational structure of advising wealthy families in the area of philanthropy both within and outside of a Family Office structure.
The course offers a comprehensive overview and interdisciplinary knowledge transfer in the following areas: Law, tax, investment strategy, organizational, process and structural know-how, family governance, succession and leadership skills, strategic philanthropy, and impact investing. Current topics such as the significance of megatrends in the development and organization of family office structures are addressed. Course participants will receive an overview of figures, data, facts and players in the foundation landscape, patronage, and philanthropy for the entire DACHLI region. There will also be the opportunity to exchange ideas on site at the University of Lucerne at the beginning and end of the course.
The course is aimed at philanthropists and asset holders, employees of family holding companies/bank-independent single and multi-Family Offices, philanthropy advisors, employees of independent asset managers, employees of bank-related multi-family offices/private wealth management, asset holders preparing for functional responsibility.
The second compact course will take place from February 7 - May 16, 2025.
Modules 1, 6 and 9 are full day on-site at the University of Lucerne, the other modules are online via zoom in the mornings.
Only certain lectures are in English, the majority will be held in German.

The tuition fees for the entire course amount to 4’200 CHF.
This includes the course materials and a certificate of attendance.
Travel, meals, and accommodation are not included.
