Researchers at the University of Lucerne focus on people, their behaviour and their roles within social contexts. They examine institutions, societies and their various sub-divisions from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives – with the aim of making a lasting contribution to people and society.

A young university with deep roots

The University of Lucerne traces its roots back to the 16th century, but it has only existed as a modern university since 2000. Today, Switzerland's youngest university has around 3,500 students and over 600 employees. Around 600 people are pursuing further education to receive certificate qualifications.

Faculties, academies, centres

The University of Lucerne has six faculties and two academies. Two interdisciplinary research centres on “Health and Society” and “Digital Transformation” are currently being established.
