The President is responsible for all functions and tasks not assigned to other university bodies, and is elected by the University Council based on the recommendation of all faculty assemblies. The President, Vice Presidents and University Manager together form the University Executive Board. The extended board also includes the deans of faculties.

The current President is Martin Hartmann, Professor of Philosophy with a focus on Practical Philosophy.
