Internal organizations and networks
The AG Nachhaltigkeit (MOL) is dedicated to sustainability at the University of Lucerne and is made up of members of the mid-level faculty of the University of Lucerne. Its aim is to revive sustainability as a fundamental basis for decision-making in all areas of the university and to promote sustainability awareness at the University of Lucerne - both in university management structures, in the everyday working lives of employees and in mobile student life.
The Lucerne Sustainability Association (VENALU) consists of students and alumni of the Lucerne campus and is committed to sustainable projects in Lucerne, such as the Sustainability Weeks, which have been organized by the association itself since 2018 on the premises of the University of Lucerne and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The last Sustainability Weeks took place from March 11 - 22, 2024 and offered a varied range of exciting events for students and other interested parties - the motto was “Regenerative Fingerprint”. Incidentally, students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences can register on the VENALU social credits platform via OLAT and benefit from social credits.
External partnerships and networks
The Association Committed to a Sustainable Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (ENNA) consists of students, staff and lecturers of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts who are committed to sustainable solutions at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In their list of expectations, they propose more sustainable options for the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
Since September 2020, the swissuniversities Sustainability Network has been networking sustainability experts from Swiss universities and advising the swissuniversities committees. The purpose of the network is to share sustainable best practices in the areas of research, teaching and university operations. All types of higher education institutions (universities, universities of applied sciences, universities of teacher education) are represented in the network.
The university is a member of the “Swiss Network for Sustainable Academic Travel”. This network brings together sustainability officers from Swiss universities to find ways and methods of reducing greenhouse gas emissions caused by business travel.
The interdisciplinary Sustainability Network Central Switzerland (NNZ) promotes the achievement of the UN 2030 Agenda goals at regional level through the activities and projects of its members. The University of Lucerne has been a member since October 2022.
