What the law says
Sexual harassment is prohibited. Every individual at the University of Lucerne is entitled to have their personal boundaries respected.
As both an employer and public institution, the University of Lucerne is obligated to take preventative and supportive actions against sexual harassment in both academic and workplace settings. According to the Federal Act on Gender Equality, sexual harassment is prohibited in the workplace and is considered a criminal offense, at least in a qualified form, under the Swiss Criminal Code.
Measures and procedures have been implemented to protect students and employees of the University of Lucerne from sexual harassment. These are outlined in the Regulations for Protection against Sexual Harassment at the University of Lucerne (RSB UniLU), dated 21 December 2022. The provisions of these regulations, which apply to members of the University, extend beyond the legal requirements in Switzerland.
