The focal point of the annual Dies Academicus at the University of Lucerne, the university’s academic celebration, is the formal presentation of honorary doctorates by the faculties to exceptional researchers and individuals.

The event is also used to award the title of honorary senator in recognition and appreciation of an individual who has made an extremely valuable contribution to the university over a prolonged period.
