In addition to high-quality teaching, you have an outstanding research record. This is based on research achievements such as national and international publications, third-party funding acquired to date, as well as prizes and other awards, in accordance with the academic age to be calculated. A compatibility to the Faculty's main research areas is desirable. In cooperation with representatives of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Chair of Jewish Studies and Theology at the Faculty of Theology, the holder of the Professorship in Jewish Studies should contribute to raising the profile of Jewish Studies at the University of Lucerne.

The recruitment requirements are based on § 2 of the Berufungsreglement (appointment regulations) of the University of Lucerne. For an assistant professorship (without tenure track) a completed doctorate is required, for a full professorship additionally a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements in Jewish Studies. Part-time professorships are possible.
