German A2.1: for participants with previous knowledge

Learning objectives: To consolidate the expressions learnt in everyday situations from the A1 course. To be able to express yourself well in simple and routine situations and everyday situations, e.g. at work or when shopping, at school or at the sports club, are dealt with better.

Elementary use of language: A2/GER

At this level, the focus is on communication in familiar everyday situations. Participants can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple sentences aimed at satisfying specific needs.

Course content: Being able to talk about various topics, e.g. the school system in Switzerland, housing and lifestyles, messages at the workplace, telephone conversations, directions, clubs, customs and traditions, career paths. Simple conversations are well understood (conversations with neighbours, conversations in a restaurant, conversations at work, registering with a club and asking for information, talking about a dream job, talking about parties and planning parties, understanding a calendar of events, responding to invitations by text message, talking about wishes and dreams). Writing skills are practised in authentic everyday situations and systematic expansion of the material (letters/emails, short statements, short texts, sales contracts as cloze texts, forms, accident reports, registrations, adverts).

Requirements for acquisition of credit points: 2 ECTS points can be earned for participation in the course. It is at the discretion of your home faculty whether these ECTS can be credited to your degree programme. Regular and active participation in class is required (max. 2 absences) as well as completion of the required coursework.

Course certificate: A course certificate will be issued on request for regular and active course attendance.
