Further funding
Here you will find information on obtaining funding for science communication, as well as organising and attending conferences.
Science in dialogue
Agora is an instrument of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) that serves to promote dialogue between science and society. Researchers are supported in making their research findings accessible to a wider audience. Agora projects promote an active exchange between researchers, the public and stakeholders, with a focus on direct dialogue between science and society.
Agora supports two different types of projects:
- Agora Projects have a budget of up to CHF 200,000. The deadline for submissions is every autumn.
- Agora Rolling Call Projects have a budget of up to CHF 50,000. Submissions are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Open access publications
The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supports the publication of scientific books through Gold Open Access, where the digital version is immediately accessible without restriction and free of charge. Funding is available for peer-reviewed monographs and edited volumes, regardless of whether they originate from an SNSF-funded project or not. Researchers have the option of publishing a printed book in addition to the digital open access version.
SNSF Scientific Exchanges
The Scientific Exchanges funding scheme of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is aimed at researchers planning to organise a scientific event in Switzerland, invite colleagues from abroad for a research visit to Switzerland, or visit their colleagues abroad. It covers travel expenses and accommodation for event participants from abroad, as well as travel costs for invited guests during research visits.
Budget: CHF 2,500 to CHF 25,000
Submission deadline: possible at any time (at least 4 months in advance)
SAGW travel grants
The Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW) provides travel grants to enable young researchers to attend international conferences.
