Optimized and successful Human Resource Management lecture in spring semester 2024

On February 20, 2024, Prof. Dr Bruno Staffelbach and Naemi Jacob, MSc welcomed around 100 students to the HRM lecture in the spring semester 2024.

Based on the experience and feedback from previous years, parts of the course have been revised and adapted. In addition to the previous four guest speakers Matthias Mölleney, Dr Stephan Hostettler, Martina Morard, MSc and Dr Eva-Maria Aulich, additional surprise guests have been invited this semester:  Dr Heidi Bodenmann and Christian Staub, MA (Denner AG), Dr Silvan Winkler (Jörg Lienert AG) and Suba Umathevan (DROSOS STIFTUNG).

The classic knowledge transfer parts of the lecture were again streamed live and recorded via ZOOM. In contrast, the parts with practical cases and guest lectures were purely analogue in order to encourage interaction in the lecture hall.

At two points in time, the students were asked to watch recordings of the previous year's lectures as preparation. This enabled a more in-depth discussion and consolidation of what they had learnt in the following teaching unit in the sense of the "flipped classroom" model. Mentimeter questions were used to check the students' understanding. These didactically varied formats contributed to increased interaction in the lecture and more student contributions.

We are delighted that 90 students successfully passed the exam on 18 June 2024 and wish everyone a wonderful, sunny and relaxing summer!

Outlook

In the spring semester 2025 and 2026, Naemi Jacob, MSC, will replace Prof. Dr Bruno Staffelbach as a lecturer for the HRM lecture. After his 8-year term as Rector of the University of Lucerne, Bruno Staffelbach will remain as Professor of the Chair of Human Resource Management for another two years.
