Once international doctoral students or international researchers are appointed several questions regarding visa regulations, registration or employment may arise. In this section, you will find useful information and links on how you can best assist your academic staff before and on arrival in Switzerland and at the University of Lucerne. Admission of international Doctoral Students
Students with an appropriate educational background can apply for registration as a doctoral student. The Admissions Office provides information on the conditions of admission for the postgraduate course of studies (rubric Study). For additional information on the application procedure, please consult the Student Administration Office.
Visa – Entry to Switzerland – Registration
For doctoral students the same regulations apply as for the undergraduate or graduate students when entering Switzerland. International staff find all necessary information through the Human Resources: information on entry and stay in Switzerland (rubric University).
Funding Opportunities
There are different possibilities of funding and grants for doctoral students who plan a stay abroad or would like to come to the University of Lucerne: information on funding and grants.
Accommodation
The University of Lucerne does not offer housing. Information on housing in Lucerne and a broad offer of flats and rooms are provided by the Verein Studentisches Wohnen (StuWo Luzern).
International Academic Staff
The administrative appointment of international academic staff is handled by the Human Resources Department of the University of Lucerne: working at university (rubric University).
Euraxess
Euraxess gives assistance to researchers and their families who arrive at the University of Lucerne and consults in all questions regarding their stay in Switzerland.
