Professional career Professor ordinarius of political economics since 2010. Professor Christoph A. Schaltegger also teaches public finance at the University of St. Gallen. As a member of management at economiesuisse, he was previously head of finance and taxation policy. Christoph A. Schaltegger worked as an advisor to Federal Councillor Hans-Rudolf Merz in the Swiss Federal Department of Finance until 2008. He supported the Finance Minister in the field of taxation policy and in aspects of international financial policy. Christoph A. Schaltegger completed his licentiate degree in Economic Sciences at the University of Basel, where he was also awarded his doctorate in 2003 (singled out for the Faculty Award in 2004). He completed his post-doctoral lecture qualification at the University of St. Gallen in 2009. In spring 2009 he was also a visiting scholar at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.
