Anton Burri was born and raised in Malters (LU). He attended grammar school in Reussbühl and completed his Matura with a major in Spanish and a supplementary subject in economics and law.
After a gap year of working and traveling through South America, he studied law as well as political economics at the University of Lucerne and spent an exchange year at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, U.S. During his studies, Mr. Burri worked as a research assistant at the chairs of Professor Klaus Mathis and Professor Karin Müller in Lucerne and with Professor Alexandra Levy in Notre Dame. He completed traineeships in international law firms in Zurich and Mexico City, in the legal department of an industrial company in Zug, and at a court of first instance in the canton of Lucerne. In addition, Mr. Burri has been a coach of the Lucerne team at the Willem C. Vis Moot. He is a licensed attorney.
Currently, Anton Burri is writing a dissertation on the law and economics of third-party funding in the context of collative redress. The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supports Mr. Burri's research with a Doc.CH grant.
