Rüya Tuna Toparlak studied Law in the Istanbul Bilgi University (Bachelor of Laws) and registered as an attorney with the Bar of Istanbul in 2017. She worked as an attorney in private law and conducted data compliance projects for many international clients. She obtained her Master of Laws degree in Private Law from the Turkish-German University. In her master’s thesis, she researched the topic of Binding Corporate Rules under the General Data Protection Regulation. During her master’s, she attended the University of Zürich with Swiss-European Mobility Program. She is currently a doctoral student advised by Prof. Dr. Malte Gruber. Her current research areas consist of Law on Artificial Intelligence with a focus on electronic personhood, social robotics, and human-machine relationships.
