Updated TAPED Dataset Published Today!
Prof. Dr. Mira Burri and her Trade Law 4.0 team are delighted to announce the release of the latest version of their TAPED Dataset
The TAPED Dataset comprehensively maps digital trade-related provisions found in preferential trade agreements (PTAs) since 2000. From 384 agreements coded in the last TAPED update in November 2022, the latest version of TAPED includes 430 agreements. We not only code the latest PTAs covering digital trade chapters but also introduce PTAs that were previously omitted from the dataset.
Moreover, this version of TAPED includes 124 instead of 116 coded items, which broadens the scope of the dataset, mirroring the trend in digital trade agreements. The new coded items, focusing on exceptions to cross-border data flows and treaty carve-outs, offer a more profound understanding of treaty commitments. Through a collaboration with the OECD, new items clarifying the scope of customs duties moratorium provisions are also included.
The latest enhancements to TAPED reflect our ongoing commitment to provide valuable and comprehensive insights on digital trade rulemaking in PTAs. We invite you to explore the updated version of our dataset. We hope it continues to be an invaluable open-source resource for researchers, policymakers, and professionals interested in digital trade regulation.
