CV
Leo Theissing is a research assistant at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Lucerne where their teaching and research focus on rainbow families in Switzerland, trans and queer care networks, and quantitative LGBTIQ+ survey research.
After completing a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish in Münster, Germany, they gained more quantitative expertise in the data-driven journalism track of the political science master’s program at the University of Zurich. During their MA, they worked at the Swiss LGBTIQ+ Panel, a longitudinal (mostly) quantitative study on the situation of LGBTIQ+ people in Switzerland.
For their master thesis, Leo Theissing researched the (re)formation of trans carenetworks in and around a trans community meeting, employing a caring ethnography approach. Currently, they are finishing their Master’s in Gender Studies and Sociology at the University of Basel.
At the University of Lucerne, Leo Theissing is part of a research project led by Dr. Carole Ammann on rainbow families in Switzerland. In 2025, they will develop their PhD on trans parenting.
