Laura Preissler completed an MA in Arts & Heritage: Management, Policy and Education at Maastricht University in summer 2014. She obtained a BA in Cultural Studies from the University of Lucerne, with a major in social anthropology. Her thesis examined the social consequences of infertility and childlessness in African societies. During her employment as a curatorial assistant at the Museum der Kulturen Basel, she worked on the permanent exhibition StrawGold. Simultaneously, she investigated the role of creator communities in the accumulation of museum collections. Currently, Laura Preissler is exploring parenting practices in Switzerland in her Ph.D. thesis, which is a subproject of the university’s research focus, Wandel der Familie im Kontext von Migration und Globalisierung.
