Christiane Schildknecht is Full Professor for Theoretical Philosophy, especially Philosophy of Language, Epistemology, and Philosophy of Mind at the University of Lucerne since 2007. 

She has studied Philosophy, German Literature, and Mathematics at the University of Konstanz (Germany) as well as at the University College London. She received her PhD from the University of Konstanz with a thesis on the connection between various forms of knowledge in philosophy and literature. After a number of Visiting Professorships in the United States, New Zealand, and Australia she received her Habilitation in 1999 from the University of Konstanz with a thesis on the limits of propositional knowledge in language, perception and consiousness. In 2000 she became Full Professor of Philosophy at the University of Bonn (Germany).
