CV
Sonja Kälin studied Psychology at the University of Bern. In her Master’s degree, she focused on Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology. Her master’s thesis project was conducted at the Inselspital Bern. She investigated differences in the cognitive development and the brain activation between very preterm and term-born adolescents. From 2016 until 2022, she worked at the Department of Developmental Psychology at the University of Bern, initially as a research assistant and later as a Ph.D. student. In her Ph.D. project, she investigated the conceptual and developmental associations between different self-regulation constructs (i.e. temperamental effortful control, executive functions, metacognition, persistence). Since November 2022, she has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Lucerne in the Faculty of Health Science and Medicine and has been involved in a project examining the legal, financial, and insurance-related hardships after childhood cancer.
Research
My research interest concerns the human development, in particular the development in childhood, but also the effects of adverse events in childhood on later life.
