Marco Cortesi
CV
Marco Cortesi made his boyhood dream come true and became a policeman with the Zurich city police. There he completed police recruit school and initially spent several years on patrol in districts 4 and 5. Later he switched to the criminal investigation department.
29 years ago, i.e. in 1992, he was appointed press officer by the then media chief Bruno Kistler. In the course of the past years, he became known throughout Switzerland as the face of the Zurich City Police due to countless television and radio interviews.
Being at the center of everyday police life in the pulsating and often hectic city of Zurich and answering the most unbelievable questions in such a way that the politicians, the commander, the police officers and also the population understand them and are satisfied with them requires a very high degree of diplomacy. Whereas in the past a press spokesman was sufficient, today a larger team of specialists is needed to answer the complex questions concerning security in the city of Zurich competently and in a timely manner.
At the end of January 2021, Marco Cortesi turned 65 and consequently retired.
In the meantime, he has founded his own communications company and passes on his extensive knowledge at renowned schools, but also on the occasion of seminars, further education courses and lectures.
