Johannes (Joop) Smits leads the Inclusion and Diversity consulting practice for PwC in Switzerland as well as PwC’s global EQUAL-SALARY Certification initiative. This includes helping companies on the journey towards becoming more inclusive and becoming certified as an Equal Salary employer.
Joop is speaking regularly about the topic of Diversity and Inclusions on public events for instutions such as the UN (Beijng 25 SDG), Advance and PwC. He is the co-author of the PwC Global Gender Pay compass as well as numerous articles on the topic of diversity, inclusion and equal pay.
Joop has worked over 20 years in the area of HR, Reward and DICE+ (Diversity, Inclusive Culture and Equality). Prior to joining PwC in 2010 he worked as a consultant for Logica and he held corporate HR and Reward positions at KPMG, Pon Holdings and Heineken.
Besides his focus on DICE, Joop focusses on supporting corporates and non-for-profit organisations in the areas of reward consulting and he has notably a strong expertise in long term incentive, HR effectiveness and HR transformation as well as change management.
Joop holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and Human Resource Management from the HAN University in applied sciences. He followed a post graduate in Culture, Organisation and Management from VU University in Amsterdam and graduated an Executive MBA from Rotterdam School of Management. He holds professional qualifications as ISO9001 lead auditor, SA8000 Auditor and he is an EQUAL-SALARY Certified lead auditor. He follows regular continuous education at the PwC academy as well IMD and INSEAD (Gender Diversity Programme).
Joop is Dutch and lives with his French wife and their 3 children in Geneva. When time permits, he enjoys exploring the lake by boat or swimming and hiking or skiing in the nearby mountains. If the weather prevents these outdoor activities, he spends time with family or friends, reading business or social literature and he is a fervent – but modest - chess player.
