Effective Leadership in Humanitarian Institutions
We are interested in identifying factors that enable leaders at humanitarian organizations to maintain high levels of engagement or prevent exhaustion in the face of highly demanding work conditions. Moreover, we test the proposition that leaders who are able to retain high levels of engagement display more effective leadership behavior. We collect survey data form leaders and their subordinates at an international humanitarian organization. The findings of this study inform humanitarian institutions how leaders can be better supported and leadership effectiveness increased.
