International Workshop

Date: 30 May 2018
Time: 09.30 h to 17.00 h
Location: Universität Luzern, Frohburgstr. 3, Hörsaal 4.A05
Sculpture “preso en Guantánamo” from José Antonio Elvira.

There is a grammar in discourse that constitutes categories of evil, establishing the impossibility of recognition and excluding the other from every moral consideration. In this encounter, we will take on the barbarian as a model of this grammar of oppression that articulates our norms of “recognizability”, to ask who is the barbarian today and how can this category help us to understand the way in which the human and the inhuman is produced.
