Infrastructural Technicalities and Moral Autonomies in the Digital Pacific

Digital technologies and infrastructures increasingly reach even the most remote areas. Based on fieldwork in diverse Pacific contexts, I explore when, why and how rural residents resist such digital integration. I showcase various techniques used by rural residents to maintain a self-determined, socially grounded integrity in the digital age, be it the planting of trees to prevent Starlink access or the tearing down of telecommunication towers.
